Creating quick vegan meals is easier than you might think

If you’re vegan, you’ve probably heard the question, “What do you eat?” a time or two (million). If you’re not vegan, but you’re entertaining someone who is, or you’re just looking to cull some culinary experience and expand your palette, then you may be the one asking that same question. The good news is that the answer is, “Lots of things.”

Even though vegans don’t eat foods containing any kind of meat, eggs or dairy products, there really are thousands of other foods out there to choose from. Fortunately, there are also thousands of people sharing their vegan recipes and products in cookbooks and on websites, and thanks to the Internet, their ideas about how to get creative with vegan meals are literally at your fingertips.

But creative doesn’t mean complicated. You can find many recipes to inspire your cooking that have only a few steps and a few easy-to-find ingredients; because they might showcase one specific food or subtle flavor, some of the most simple vegan meals are the tastiest!

And creative doesn’t mean expensive, either. It’s true that some specially made or prepared vegan foods can come with a price, just like other processed foods – but also just like other processed foods, they usually aren’t as healthy for you as meals you make yourself.

Actually, many staple vegan foods are very affordable, and eating cheap vegan meals that are nutritiously balanced can be a great way to save money on your grocery bill; it would be a hard sell for anyone who has bought quality meat lately to argue that it was cheaper than buying quality veggies.

Vegan Desserts

Once you’ve mastered a few quick vegan meals, why not round out your skills by learning how to satisfy a sweet tooth, vegan-style? Replacing dairy milk with soy milk or rice milk is an effortless way to make many baking recipes vegan.

But what about recipes that call for eggs? There are all kinds of tips and tricks out there to help you make amazing animal-product-free treats. Sure, you might not be able to make a vegan meringue… then again, maybe you can! A little research is all it takes to get cracking (so to speak), because whether you’re a vegan yourself or just cooking for one, there are plenty of online resources available to help you create easy vegan meals and keep things interesting in the kitchen.
